This is a very interesting notion that sparked some thought for me. Obama may have been viewed as a big win for liberality and progressive ideals in America, but his Administration's actions belie the promise of his election. So Anna Taylor suggests we should "get over Obama" and the adulation that continues to buoy his agenda even while he trashes the ideals that elected him. Anna writes:
"Get over "Obama", for heaven's sake. Everybody else has. A "win" for corporate seizure of the citizenry might be considered a short-term "win" for this corporate fraud in a birthday suit, but it would be the end of all hope for what used to be the Democratic Party.
This bogus "reform", with its mandates and bureaucracies, is reminiscent of Welfare Reform, which effectively orphaned the children of the poor, with predictable results to the poor, especially to poor blacks in the cities.

... I think it's time for all cognizant progressives to realize that we don't need to continue supporting president Obama just because he was anointed by a wide grassroots movement that was mesmerized by his effective campaign rhetoric. Actions speak much louder than words, and it's very clear that the agenda that he is pursuing is not designed to benefit the masses that he swore to serve - they are designed to benefit the commercial overclass. I am very disappointed, and I didn't even vote for him in the primaries. http://www.udi.pladott.org/thoughts/2010/01/10/disappointment/ |
