Medicare For All Videos FAQ

How is this project funded?

The most important contributions came from the generous donations of time and talent by all involved in the production. Everyone worked for much less than they would be paid on a commercial production. Many people donated all their time. Everyone worked diligently and gave copiously of their effort to this important cause. We offer our heartfelt thanks.

The Law Office of Clark Newhall MD JD donated the seed money for this HealthJustice project, along with generous donations of time and hard work from all the people there.

HealthJustice is offering sponsorship opportunities on the video to fund further distribution.

How will these videos be distributed?

The videos will be distributed freely to all members of the Leadership Council for Guaranteed Health Care, which includes all the major singlepayer advocacy organizations. In addition, the videos will be offered for free distribution through lists of other organizations and individuals who have supported single payer, such as Michael Moore and Al Gore. Each organization will receive an icon to place on their website to link to the videos. HealthJustice anticipates that AirAmerica and GritTV will contribute to introduction and distribution. HealthJustice also anticipates an email blast with a targeted email list of 100,000 email addresses and an untargeted list of 5 million email addresses.

All the videos can be shared, embedded on socialnet sites such as Facebook and MySpace and forwarded, keeping the links intact.

What is unique about this project?

This video project is the first political use of integrated video hyperlinking with direct response. This technique allows a viewer to click on a link within the video and immediately take an action. In the case of these HealthJustice videos, the action is to send a fax advocating Medicare For All to multiple people in Congress and the White House. Other hyperlinks in the video connect the viewer to the website of sponsors, give information about Medicare For All, or connect to sites for the video’s creators. Each video has multiple clickable links.

For broadcast on YouTube and TV, media which do not support hyperlinking, the action to be taken is a phone call to an 800 number advertised on the video. That 800 number encourages the caller to formulate a message that supports Medicare For All. The caller is then connected to the White House comment line to leave her message. When calling after White House business hours, when the comment line is closed, the caller leaves a message, which is digitally recorded, transcribed and forwarded to the White House.
