This video project is the first political use of integrated video hyperlinking with direct response. This technique allows a viewer to click on a link within the video and immediately take an action. In the case of these HealthJustice videos, the action is to send a fax advocating Medicare For All to multiple people in Congress and the White House. Other hyperlinks in the video connect the viewer to the website of sponsors, give information about Medicare For All, or connect to sites for the video’s creators. Each video has multiple clickable links.
For broadcast on YouTube and TV, media which do not support hyperlinking, the action to be taken is a phone call to an 800 number advertised on the video. That 800 number encourages the caller to formulate a message that supports Medicare For All. The caller is then connected to the White House comment line to leave her message. When calling after White House business hours, when the comment line is closed, the caller leaves a message, which is digitally recorded, transcribed and forwarded to the White House.
